Information on the breed: English Bulldogs

Did you know that nine times out of ten that a female MUST be artificially inseminated? Did you know that 99.99% of the time that a female bullie MUST have a c-section and cannot deliver naturally?

Artificial Insemination: If and when we decide to have a litter, Our Dams are artificially inseminated for several reasons. First and foremost, it eliminates any chance of the bitch obtaining a sexually transmitted disease from the male. Artificially inseminating the bitch also reduces stress, both on her and on the male.  The STUD FEE (fee paid to the owner of the Stud) is normally about $600.00.

Cesarian Section: The majority of the time, the Dam requires to have a C-Section. English bulldog pups heads are normally too large for her to pass vaginally. Some breeders take the chance to allow their female to deliver naturally. This is quite dangerous, even for the experienced breeder, and very hard on the Dam. We choose to have all litters delivered via C-Section. This way our Dam is in the best hands possible, should there be any complications whatsoever, the Vet's staff is trained to handle it. It eliminates the waiting time between puppies as in most cases, in a normal delivery, you can wait upwards of 2 to 4 hours in between the delivery of each pup. Some dogs will go several hours in between delivering each pup - should the Dam have a large litter, say 8 or 9 puppies, could you imagine the stress she is under for up to 18 to 20 hours? We would NEVER put our Dams through such an ordeal.

Ohhhh, this IS heaven!

Our Bullies Backyard Paradise (Yes, this backyard was designed and installed just for our bullies and is 100% bullie proof)

Our Bullie yard is 95% concrete - all plants and shrubs are non-toxic - complete with waterfall (which is an over-sized watering bowl) and misting system. And who says we don't love our bullies?? :-)

The Story Behind the Bullie Play Yard - When I brought Canoga over from Hungary, I wanted all the dogs to have a yard that was just for THEM. I installed sod and a great back yard for dogs. Well, Canoga would dig and find every single rock she could - and EAT IT. After doing this several times and the rock getting stuck and being extremely painful for her to pass down her digestive tract, enough was enough. I mean, she did this like FOUR times. She would be in so much pain, not be able to walk and I would have to spoon feed and spoon water her for days on end. She was in bad shape the last time. So, I hired a landscaper and said "make it DOGGIE PROOF" - and he did. The patio cover and misting system stays on in the summer time so they can be cool if they choose to go outside and the yard is big enough so they can run from one end to the other and get plenty of exercise. We have two dog runs, one on each side of the house with doggie doors so they can go outside whenever they choose. They spend most of their time in the kitchen on the tile floor because it's cool on their bellies and they seem to like that! I would go to the ends of the earth for my bullies - they are a part of my family.

Fun in the Sun . . . . .

Some of our bullies having their PLAY TIME this summer in the pool. Bullies CANNOT SWIM and must have CONSTANT SUPERVISION while near any water/pool area. Our dogs love the water and we have a hard time keeping them out of the pool. The first one who pops the raft is GROUNDED!!!
